Why Manchester United And Chelsea Need To Keep Their Playmakers Despite Bundesliga Interest

After German source Bild has reported that both Chelsea and Manchester United could lose their playmakers to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in January, it has sparked a mixed reaction amongst fans. Shinji Kagawa is the man linked with a move away from Manchester United, while Kevin de Bruyne is the player that will leave west London according to the reports.

The former is an individual that almost the entire nation is gagging to see given a run of games. Last season he was the creative force that we saw at Borussia Dortmund, despite not appearing as much as he would have liked due to an injury. He did manage 20 appearances and six goals, and he also racked up an impressive 19 goal-scoring chances.

The Japan international is the potential key to United winning the title and the sooner David Moyes’ realises his ability the sooner they will get out of their supposed rut, in my eyes.

Switching our attention to de Bruyne, it’s not so easy to argue his case for a future at his club. Although he scored 10 and claimed 10 assists for Werder Bremen last season in the German topflight, fans of the Premier League have hardly seen the Belgian.

He started in the opening game against Hull and looked lively from the off, getting an assist in the early stages of the game, but for one reason or another Mourinho decided that he wasn’t part of his plans. He has created three chances this season and is very much a confidence player, and there is no group of attacking midfielders that could potentially improve his game than that at Stamford Bridge. A loan deal may be necessary for the 22-year-old to retain his form, but a long term deal should be out of the question.
