Why Left-Back With 90% Tackle Success Could Be Ideal For Manchester United

Patrice Evra has established himself as one of the most capable left-backs in European football over the last eight years as he has bossed the flank at Old Trafford. However, after 15 major trophies won with Manchester United the Express are reporting that he’s getting ready to pack his bags and depart the reigning champions.

However, the same reports mention that United already have a replacement lined up – Saint Etienne’s Faouzi Ghoulam.

Being a devoted follower of the French leagues I can categorically tell you that the 22-year-old is a star in the making, and perhaps has the potential to surpass Evra’s current level of ability.

He has played seven games this season for the Ligue 1 outfit and created five chances. He has the pace, the confidence and the positional sense to play both in defence and on the left of midfield, and he his impeccable delivery helps with that aspect.

Evra holds the experience, naturally, but Ghoulam has the athleticism and the hunger that we rarely see from Evra these days.

He also has a 76% duel success this season, including 18/20 (90%) of his tackles being successful and 18/25 (72%) of his headers coming out his way.

Should Evra leave this summer then in my opinion this is the man that David Moyes should be looking to replace him with.
