After 10 Premier League games this season I look at 10 things that we have learnt from the Gunners.
1) Wenger is always right
Those fans calling for the Frenchman’s head look awfully foolish right now as the Gunners sit top of both the Premier League and their Champions League group. Never doubt the wily old gaffer.
2) Mertesacker is a warrior
The German has been incredible this term – winning 8/10 of his tackles, 20/32 of his headers and averaged six defensive actions per game. He has also completed 91% of his passes so far in his nine games.
3) Flamini was a shrewd signing
What can I say about the former AC Milan man? He has proved on numerous occasions how good he is sitting in front of the defence and there is a huge difference when he’s not in the side.
4) Giroud can score goals
It’s eight goals in 16 games so far this season for the Frenchman. Not bad for someone who was slated so heavily last year, ay?
5) Mourinho holds a spell over Wenger
Wenger has always struggled against Mourinho’s sides and this season has been no different, as Chelsea overcame the Gunners in the League Cup.
6) Wilshere isn’t cut out for the left
The injury to Santi Cazorla meant that the England international was pushed out left, but his performances left a lot to be desired. Pushed back into the centre and he started scoring and creating again.
7) Szczesny is a solid number 1
He has kept three league clean sheets so far and averaged 2.7 saves per game. His command of the box looks better and he seems happy to organise his backline.
8) Arteta is tactically brilliant
The Spaniard has been brilliant in the deeper position that he has undertook this season. Not only has he completed 12/19 of his tackles, but he has completed an impressive 94% of his passes.
9) A big money signing can make all the difference
The arrival of Mesut Ozil brought confidence back into the club and he’s also been impeccable on it. He has created 20 chances, scored twice and has a 90% shot accuracy in the Premier League.
10) Ramsey is a real talent
Last season the Wales international was written off as just another overrated Brit. However, 11 goals in 17 games has seen his name plastered all over the papers.
*Bonus*
11) Piers Morgan is clueless
Well, I suppose we already knew that, didn’t we?
