After 11 games of the Premier League this season, here are 10 players who I feel need to improve their performances. Who are yours?
1) Dimitar Berbatov – Fulham
The Bulgarian scored 15 goals last year and was a threat in most fixtures, using his panache to his advantage. However this season he has looked sluggish, frustrated and ultimately harmless in front of goal, scoring just once this term.
2) Rocky van Wolfswinlkel – Norwich
His big money move in the summer has resulted has resulted in just one league goal in eight games and a shot accuracy of 33%.
3) Lee Cattermole – Sunderland
The midfielder now has a new manager and a chance to wipe the slate clean. His lethargic displays have done nothing to inspire the Black Cats this season.
4) Marouane Fellaini – Manchester United
The Belgian has found it difficult so far at Old Trafford and has been the butt of much criticism. He needs to step up his performances if he is to keep his slot.
5) Edin Dzeko – Manchester City
Although he has scored three goals in seven appearances this season, City fans are growing tired of the Bosnian. His lack of energy has seen him rained on by abuse.
6) Petr Cech – Chelsea
The keeper made a hash of a tame Stephane Sessegnon shot at the weekend, but his performances have left a lot to be desired all season, in truth.
7) Brede Hangeland – Fulham
We are used to seeing a commanding, sturdy Norwegian at the heart of the Fulham backline in Hangeland, but he’s been woeful this season.
8) Branislav Ivanovic – Chelsea
The Serbian has been taking up duties at right-back this term, but for me he’s a central defender. He lacks paces and agility and is therefore struggling down the flank.
9) Fernando Torres – Chelsea
Another Chelsea man now in Torres, who I must say is looking a bit brighter recently. He has scored just once in eight games this season.
10) Roberto Soldado – Tottenham
Although he has four goals this season, three have been penalties and his all round play isn’t looking great. The Spaniard needs to pull his socks up.
