With rumours flying around as to who David Moyes is going to strengthen his midfield with in the new year, I have had a though as to an option which may interest the Red Devils in the short term. The Mirror are reporting that Clint Dempsey will return to the Premier League for two months during the close season of the MLS, and why shouldn’t Moyes and co be interested in securing him on a short loan stint?
Dempsey is a midfield player who enjoys collecting the ball at his feet and driving the defensive unites of the midriff to the attacking side of things. He has the technique of a Manchester United player and he adds goals, so in my eyes he could be a tasty piece of business.
Dempsey has played 15 games this season for his side Seattle Souders, creating 30 chances. He has only scored one goal but has 50 shots at goal, which is quite an impressive tally.
He has completed 86% of his passes, 58% of his headers and linked beautifully with Obafemi Martins in the US.
For me, it would be a win-win situation. Should he come in and do well, Moyes looks like a genius. If he doesn’t live up to the billing then he returns after eight weeks.
He can’t be any worse than Anderson, can he?
