When Anderson joined Manchester United back in 2006 the whole red side of the city were rubbing their hands together. Sir Alex Ferguson looked to have landed one of the most exciting central midfielders on the European stage and the Red Devil supporters couldn’t wait to see the tenacity, the flair and the all-round silky displays of the Brazilian. However, six years on and the United fans are still waiting to see those attributes.
Anderson has recently been linked with a loan move to Fulham but Sky Sports say that the 25-year-old is ready to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford. But where does he fit in with David Moyes’ plans?
With Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini in the midfield there may be passing ability but there is an evident lack of mobility, so Anderson could come in and liven the place up a bit. He has the energy to do so, as well as the willingness to run forward with the ball and although he needs to improve on his eye-of-the-needles passes, he does have a decent shot on him.
Despite the criticism that he has come under during his 174 appearances for the club, he is a player who seems to carry confidence in everything he does, which is thoroughly refreshing.
I for one hope that Anderson gets one last throw at the dice in Manchester and that it works out well for him.
