Torres Fit For Basel Clash – Here’s Why Mourinho Should Forget About Selecting Him

Fernando Torres – a man who divides opinions across the globe. Some are still in the belief that he will make up for the slack start as a Chelsea player and the others have written him off as a has-been. However you see him, Jose Mourinho has declared – according to Goal.com – that the Spaniard is fit again and ready to face Basel if needed in their upcoming Champions League tie. But I would suggest that they should leave him on the sidelines, and here’s why.

The 29-year-old has made eight appearances in the Premier League so far this season and scored just once, a tap in against Manchester City. He looks slow, uninspiring and looks as though his composure has run away from him. He has had nine shots this season, but few have really tested the keeper.

His link up play is almost non-existent, he can’t head a ball and he has completed just 66% of his passes. Quite frankly, his ball retention is dire and in my eyes Chelsea would be better off sticking Schurrle back up top.

Samuel Eto’o may need a rest after his current action, which leaves Demba Ba likely to play a big part of the game, and I actually think that it will be a good chance for the forward to show the fans that he can still make an impact.
