Patrice Evra is out of contract in summer so naturally speculation has been rife in the opening months of the season, especially as he continues his good form. The Frenchman’s successor could be one of these two chaps, as the Express say they’re watching Alex Sandro and the Daily Mail report Seville’s Moreno is a target. But how do they compare?
The latter is a very attacking player who loves bombing down the wing and acting as a winger, and has scored once this season in La Liga. He has made 29 interceptions so far this season, 26 tackles and 25 clearances.
He thrives when dribbling at players and his positioning is superb, while he’s also able to throw himself into the tackle.
Over to the Brazil international, Sandro is a much more skilful player. The 22-year-old is at his best when up against quick players as he has the pace to beat even the nippiest players in a race. He’s also a strong player who make life hard for opposing wingers by standing up in the tackle and shaping his body to stop them in their path.
Whoever replaces Evra will need athleticism, positioning and a good delivery on them – something which these two certainly have.
