Liverpool thumped a lowly West Ham side 4-1 today at Anfield, taking them within four points of leaders Arsenal. Here are five things we learned from the game.
1) Suarez is incredible
After his remarkable four goals against Norwich on Wednesday evening, the little South American was t it again today as he struck a late goal and was a huge part of the first . Suarez loves to shoot at goal, we know that, but he seemed intent to continue his goal scoring as he had nine shots at goal this afternoon.
2) Coutinho on comeback
The Brazilian suffered from a shoulder injury recently and he’s only just getting back into the grove of things. Coutinho had 95 touches during his time on the pitch and had eight shots, as well as making three tackles.
3) Nolan still a hot head
The former Bolton midfielder has always carried aggression in his game but it’s often on the boarder of disruptive. Today, he saw red, which is no surprise for anyone who has watched him play over the years.
4) Hammers love to lump it
Overall, Sam Allardyce’s men completed just 68% of their passes, which, compared to Liverpool’s 87%, is dire. As usual, West Ham spent much of the game looking for the direct route.
5) Liverpool all out attack
In the 90 minutes, Liverpool had no fewer than 32 shots at goal. They completed 12 dribbles and generally took the game by the scruff of the neck and pulled it their way in what was a very impressive display.
They have scored nine goals in their last two games.
