Manchester City did the unthinkable last night as they turned Bayern Munich over on their own patch. Manuel Pellegrini’s men ran out 3-2 winners after going 2-0 down early on – here are five things that we learned from the clash.
1) Bayern are beatable
Before yesterday’s game the Bavarians were unbeaten in a huge amount of games and everyone had written off City before they arrived in Germany. Things looked bleak when they went 2-0 down but City came back and handed the club their first loss of the season in all competitions.
2) Kroos is a pass master
The German is renowned for the accuracy he carries in his passing and he continued that in the clash last night. From the 69 passes that he attempted he completed 65 of them, giving him a completion rate of 94%.
3) Milner can score
Yes, he actually scored. The wide-man put in a good shift at the Allianz-Arena, making three clearances, two interceptions and winning 100% of his tackles, but he also struck his first goal of the season.
4) Bayern love crossing
City attempted just six crosses during the game, completing three, whereas Bayern whipped no less than 38 balls into the box.
5) Thiago settling well
The Spaniard struggled with injury when he first arrived in the Bundesliga but he has since settled nicely into the team. Last night he made two clearances, two interceptions and won all three of his attempted tackles. He also completed 63 passes in his time on the pitch.
