Brace yourselves, for it’s that time of year again. We are currently in the middle of the January transfer window and rumours are rife. We haven’t seen a great deal of action yet but the speculation is picking up, and one man who has been linked to a move to Arsenal is Roma’s 22-year-old forward Mattia Destro. But who is he, and what could he offer the Gunners?
I think we are all in agreement that the London side are in need of some sort of back up to their forward line, and Destro could be the player to provide that.
He’s only made four appearances in the Italian top tier so far this season but he has managed three goals in that time. He also has an assist to his name and his shot accuracy stands at 100% from his four shots.
Perhaps a loan deal to the end of the season could work, with Arsenal either looking to sign him in the summer off the back of some strong performances or focusing their attention elsewhere should he flop.
Destro is currently behind Francesco Totti and Gervinho in the Italian capital and I am sure the thought of more game time would excite him.
