Vidic Rules Out Manchester United Title Challenge, But Is He Right To Do So?

After Manchester United’s 3-1 loss at Chelsea yesterday afternoon, skipper Nemaja Vidic has admitted – through Sky Sports – that his side’s fight for the title is now over. The Serbia international believes that the Red Devils are too far behind current leaders Arsenal – they are now 14 points below the Gunners – but is the centre-back right in his assumptions?

Sure, the gap between the two sides is quite a notable one, but for me I don’t think you can rule them out just yet. The reason I say that is because of the strength they hold in attack.

David Moyes holds last season’s Premier League top scorer in Robin van Persie, though he is still out injured right now, and he also holds Wayne Rooney, who has scored nine league goals in his 17 outings.

Danny Welbeck has eight in 16 and Javier Hernandez has chipped in with three. A side with that much strength will always have a chance, in my eyes.

We still have a long way to go until the end of the season, and if Arsenal carry on the way they are going then it’ll feel even longer for United, but as long as they start climbing the table soon, then I think they are still in with a chance.

Albeit a very, very slim one.

Can United still win the title?
