Things were looking up for Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace recently. The Eagles’ surge up the table came off the back of the appointment of former Stoke City boss Tony Pulis, and after 22 league games they currently sit in 16th place. However, their season could be ready to implode, as various reports are suggesting that Pulis may be nearing the exit at Selhurst Park as a result of transfer-related frustrations.
Now, should the Welsh boss leave the club in the near future then I can only imagine how it would damage the club’s recent form. The south London side have lost just two of their last five and have looked strong defensively, but a failure to add some quality into their squad could cause similar results.
They may have the largest squad across the top 31 divisions in Europe, but there is still a lack of topflight class and for me that needs addressed if they are to stay up.
They could do with a goalkeeper to support or even challenge current first choice Speroni, and a seasoned centre-back to plug their leaky backline.
Up top they also look a little bit light, with Dwight Gayle and Marouane Chamakh the only two real options, though Glenn Murray could be back to action sooner rather than later.
Should Pulis leave and there be no signings this transfer window, then I fear for the Eagles and their hope for survival.
