Liverpool fans across the country have reason to be pleased with this season so far. Not only are they currently fourth in the Premier League table but they are also starting to see the results of Brendan Rodgers’ hard work with his young players.
The Irishman has injected a new style of play at Anfeld since he arrived and this season has been a glimpse of what is to come, and with it being based round a host of youngsters – Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho, with Luis Suarez at the forefront, we could see some amazing results yet.
However with the attacking unit being sorted, the scrutiny has come at the other end, where the Reds have leaked sloppy goals and have, in places, looked shoddy.
Left-back is the main area, with Jose Enrique missing a huge amount of football through injury and loanee Aly Cissokho failing to impress in his nine league appearances.
As a result of that, and the aforementioned approach from the manager, I would suggest that the Liverpool board go all out to sign Southampton full-back Luke Shaw in the next few days.
The 18-year-old is incredibly composed for such a young player and knows how to play football in the right way. He may not be the strongest, but he knows how to use his body to get the better of opponents and he has a low centre of gravity.
He has showed over the last year just how effective he is when getting forward and his delivery into the box, and could prove the perfect fit for Rodgers’ side. He would link nicely with the attacking players and it would also act as a real statement of intent to the rest of the top clubs.
Do you agree, Liverpool fans?
