Arsenal: Choose Oxlade-Chamberlain, Target The Full-Backs And Give Ozil A Free Role

Arsenal have the chance to go back to the top of the Premier League today as they host strugglers Crystal Palace. Many will have this one down as a home banker, but there are some of us who don’t think it will be so easy.

Arsene Wenger’s side are going up against a Palace outfit who have now won two on the bounce, and a side who have kept two consecutive clean sheets.

So, how do beat such a resilient, organised unit?

Arsenal are having a small midfield crisis, with Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey injured and Mathieu Flamini suspended, so Mikel Arteta is almost nailed on to start in the middle of the field. Who partners him I feel is crucial to the result, and for me I would go with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

He has the energy needed to close Palace players down and would add a nice balance I feel, but could spring forward when needed.

Then, I would target the left-back area where Jonathan Parr will probably be operating. The defender has had a tough time so far this season and looks as though he can be unsettled with even the slightest of attacks.

Lastly, I would give Ozil a free role. It ties in with the previous point, but I feel he is more effective when he is allowed to float to the left and right, pulling opponents out of position. The Germany international has created chances from all over the pitch this season and with Santi Cazorla just as flexible as him, it could leave Palace in a complete mess.
