Chelsea: Forget About Rooney And Look To Sign Costa In The Summer

Although Chelsea are running nicely right now, sitting just two points off leaders Arsenal and are likely to be involved in one of the most exciting title races we’ve had for a while. In terms of how many teams are going for the trophy that is, I don’t think that we will ever see anything like the Aguero winner again. But there is a notable absence in the team for me, and that’s up front.

Samuel Eto’o has hit form of late but even he hasn’t looked enough to fire the Blues to the top, and with Fernando Torres and Demba Ba the only two real options should Mourinho drop the Cameroonian, I think they may just fall short.

However, next there’s no reason fans can’t believe that they will go all the way, and I think next season we will see the full force of Chelsea, as long as they sign a striker.

There are two names that have been mooted for a while now – Wayne Rooney and Diego Costa. Having seen both perform on a continuous basis over the last two seasons, I would certainly prefer one to the other, if I was a Blues fan, and that man is Costa.

The reason I say that is because he has more of a presence about him, is more of a spearhead and ultimately scores more goals. While Rooney drifts around the edge of the box and into the wide areas, Costa is predominantly a player who thrives in the box.

Chelsea already have players to do the creating and need a player to come in and put it in the back of the net, something which Costa can do – he has scored 25 goals in 29 games this season.

What I am trying to say is, if I was Jose Mourinho I would look to sign Costa and forget about Rooney.

Chelsea fans, agree or disagree?
