Advantage City As Arsenal Slip Up Against Current Holders

With Chelsea surprisingly dropping points at West Brom yesterday, it was up to Manchester City and Arsenal this evening to pounce on their mistake and knock the Blues off top spot. However, due to the awful weather City’s tie at home to Sunderland was postponed, so it was up to the Gunners to overcome the challenge from Manchester United, but that didn’t go to plan either.

In a tiresome game Robin van Persie came closest when Wojciech Szczesny tipped his effort onto the crossbar despite being off balance, but the score was 0-0 come full time.

The table now looks as though City have the advantage, though they will have to win their game in hand against Sunderland to go there.

Chelsea are still top of the league on 57 points with Arsenal second after a point. The Gunners sit on 56 after 26 games, but City have played a game less and are three points off top, but they are far superior with their goal difference.

City are on +41, Chelsea are on +27 and Arsenal are currently on +22, and Liverpool are also creeping up behind after their win at Fulham, as they sit in fourth on 53 points and a +34 goal difference.
