THREE Signs That Arsene Wenger Has Lost The Plot

Arsene Wenger led Arsenal to the top of the Premier League this season and managed to keep them there for a decent amount of time. However, as we entered the new year, the Gunners plummeted down the league and are now struggling to keep hold of fourth. Here are three signs that Arsene Wenger has lost the plot, as in lost the sparkle he once had. Comment below on whether you agree or disagree.

1) Injuries

Arsene Wenger is a manager who likes to stick with his best players, even if that means they are run into the ground and end up on sidelined. We have seen this on numerous occasions this season. Mesut Ozil, who didn’t have a proper pre season, was played continuously until his form tumbled and he picked up an injury.

Aaron Ramsey’s fine form in the opening stages was killed off because of too many games and he is finally returning to action after months out.

Jack Wilshere, Thomas Vermaelen, Abou Diaby, Tomas Rosicky, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini have also suffered from injury this season. Of course Wenger isn’t solely to blame, but I think he could have helped at least some of these.

2) January panic

When Wenger signed Kim Kallstrom in the new year, people knew that Wenger was panicking. He failed to land a big money striker that was expected and instead he secured a deal for a crocked 31-year-old on loan.

It’s not the first time he has panicked, but this is a clear sign that he is losing the plot. I mean, he knew Kallstrom was injured before he signed him!

3) Media talk

Wenger has always been one to face his critics. No matter how tough times got for the Frenchman, he would also face the media and take the blame, though this season he has cancelled numerous press conferences and has refused on occasions to talk to the press.

The cracks are there for all to see.
