Manchester United Presented With Perfect Time To Blood Youngsters

As the season approaches what Sir Alex Ferguson referred to as ‘squeaky bum’ time, it still makes shock reading when you see Manchester United slumped in 7TH place and on the cusp of missing out on a place in next season’s Champions League.

It has been a dramatic fall from grace for the defending champions with their season only being lit up by the meteoric rise of starlet Adnan Januzaj.

It is no secret that some of United’s key players from seasons gone by are approaching their final campaigns at the club. Given United’s current predicament it would make sense for Moyes to give opportunities to other youngsters so that they can gain valuable Premier League experience.

18-year-old striker James Wilson was on the bench for the first time in the Red Devils resounding 0-4 win at St James Park. According to the Daily Mail, the youngster scored a stunning 25-yard goal for the club’s under-21s yesterday against Aston Villa. Why not give him some game time as we approach the home straight?

I am not suggesting that Manchester United should give up on their quest to catch Arsenal in fourth place. However their best hope in making next season’s draw still remains their existence in this season’s competition, but as we know that it is going to be far from easy in Munich tomorrow night.

Too many players have underperformed at Old Trafford this campaign and quite frankly are not of the required standard to represent the red half of Manchester. Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley and Marouane Fellaini are just three names that instantly spring to mind.

This is a new era at Old Trafford. Now would be the perfect time to blood the youngsters.
