Brendan Rodgers is a player who knows how to get the best out of his young players. Raheem Sterling has been outstanding this season and a big part of Liverpool’s success, as has Daniel Sturridge and John Flanagan. The Reds boss is being linked with a move to another youngster this summer, with 20-year-old Benfica winger Lazar Markovic the man on his radar.
The reports say that the Portuguese side have slapped on a massive £30 million price tag on his head, and I think Liverpool should splash out to secure a deal for him.
It’s a big price to pay, but the kid has a lot of ability. He is a slight winger who hugs the touchline, but is able to cut inside and use his ball control to beat a player and thread passes into his strikers.
He has lightning pace and is a very similar player to Raheem Sterling when driving forward, but he is far more comfortable in front of goal. He has played 36 games for Benfica and scored seven goals, which is an impressive return from the wide areas.
He is also a Serbia international and has 10 appearances and two goals to his name.
