With Diego Costa seemingly destined for Chelsea and Stamford Bridge, Arsene Wenger must not put all his efforts into luring Mario Mandzukic away from Bayern Munich.
The Independent reports that with Costa out of the picture, Wenger will turn his attention to Mandzukic as he looks to improve his attacking options.
The Croatian is the Bundesliga’s joint top goalscorer on 17 goals, along with his soon to be teammate Robert Lewandowski.
Much will depend on whether Arsenal can beat high flying Everton to the final Champions League spot, but let’s consider that they will.
Mandzukic is a star in a team of superstars, there is no denying that the contribution he has made since joining from Wolfsburg in 2012 has been substantial.
But Lewandowski’s arrival in the summer from rivals Borussia Dortmund will no doubt be weighing heavily on the Croatian’s mind.
Now Mandzukic now must decide how he wants to spend his ‘prime’ years, on the bench, winning medals but not feeling like he has contributed and earning £56,000 a week.
Or?
Move to Arsenal. A Champions League club where you will be the main attacking figure, in the best league in the world and receive a big pay rise. Not only that, but he will be loved by the Arsenal fans, he is what they have been demanding for the last three seasons.
It is a difficult decision for a player to make, but in the end it comes down to the character of the player. I can see him in Arsenal colours next season.
