Manchester United and Chelsea are huge clubs, and if they were interested in a big money deal to secure your signature then you would surely be unsettled at your current club, regardless of who you play for. That seems to have happened with Marek Hamsik, as reports suggest that he is the target for both Premier League clubs. Napoli have slapped a £33m label on his head though, so here’s what the clubs would be getting for their money.
One of the quicker players in the Napoli side, Hamsik is a player who functions in the hole behind the strikers. His strengths sit in his passing – in his 24 Serie A appearances this season the Slovakia international has claimed five assists and racked up a pass success of 84%.
His link up play is often what opens teams up as he can split a defence with a single pass. He averages two key balls per outing and two shots per game.
For me he would be a risky signing. His seven years at the Naples club have made him a household name in Europe, but whether or not he could handle the pace of the Premier League is something else.
This clip may tell you what he’s about.
