David Moyes was ripped to pieces over his 10 month stint at Manchester United but he did do a lot of good, too. The bedding in of Adnan Januzaj was one, and another was laying the foundations of a deal for Southampton’s Luke Shaw, according to the Guardian. The reports suggest that there was a deal in place before the former Everton boss was sacked, but what could he offer the Red Devils?
Remarkably strong for his age, Shaw has established himself as one of the most exciting full-backs in the country and is in with a shout for a World Cup spot.
He has played 32 Premier League games for Southampton this season and has made 117 clearances, as well as 66 tackles. His reading of the game, for a teenager, is incredible and he holds a balance that even the top players can’t match.
He likes to knock the ball inside to a team-mate before bombing down the flank, but he knows when to keep it tight and stay in a deep position.
His delivery is also exquisite – he has played 30 key balls this season.
For me Shaw would be the perfect addition, especially as Patrice Evra’s future at the club looks unsure.
