Blown It: THREE Reasons Why Liverpool Will NOT Win The Premier League This Season

Liverpool’s loss to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon proved to be a popular talking point in this weekend’s Premier League action, mainly because of the manner the Reds lost the game. Some were not happy with Mourinho’s ‘negative approach’, while the rest of us had a good chuckle at Steven Gerrard’s slip. The result leave Liverpool top of the league by just two points with a couple of games to go, but here is why I think they have blown it.

1) Captain fantastic starting to stutter

The whole world saw Gerrard’s slip, and most of us had a laugh poking fun at him because of it. The irony of the man who wants it so bad potentially throwing it away was too much.

However, it wasn’t just that. The pressure looks to be getting to him. He spent the rest of the tie shooting wildly from distance, and that, combined with his interviews leading up to the game and his tears last week suggest he is starting to crack.

When your leader can’t handle it, what hope do you have?

2) City believe

The result left City in poll position, as if they win their game in hand against Villa, they return to the top of the table. On goal difference, granted but it would be theirs to lose.

They play Everton and West Ham either side of the Villa game.

3) Defensive woes

Although Liverpool are the Premier League’s top scorers on 96 goals, their defence has left a lot to be desired this season. They have conceded 46 goals – more than the likes of Crystal Palace, Hull and Southampton.

If they don’t tighten up in their last two games, it could be lights out.
