According to reports, Chelsea are lining up a £20m move for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, who fancies himself as the best in the world, in his position. The humble Chile international has upstaged the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba, which is no easy task, and is seen, according the same reports, as Frank Lampard’s replacement. But what exactly could he offer the Blues should he make the move to Stamford Bridge?
Vidal is a box-to-box midfielder who plays best when deployed in a high-tempo side, pressing opponents and getting in their face. He adds the energy into the Juve midriff, while Pirlo knocks the ball about and Pogba strides forward into the attacking areas.
This season Vidal has played 31 Serie A games and another six in the Champions League, as well as five in the Europa League after they dropped into the competition. Between the three competitions, he has scored 18 goals and made five assists.
He has a pass completion rate of 83% and averages 1.5 key balls per outing. In a midfield with Nemanja Matic and Ramires, Vidal would slot in effortlessly, in my opinion, and the £20m tag looks on the low side.
This video may tell you a little bit more about him.
