Manchester United are said to be chasing Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller, though the Germany international has supposedly rejected the chance to join the Red Devils. Here is why is he right to do so.
The first reason is the amount of competition already at the Old Trafford club. Muller is primarily a centre-forward and plays behind a main striker, or alongside him. With Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie likely to be the front two in van Gaal’s side, it leaves Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck in the shadows.
Muller would surely only add to the number of players not getting enough game time.
He can also play on the wings, but with the vast amount of wide men already occupying the ranks of United it’s a similar situation.
Muller needs to be the focal point of an attacking unit and United aren’t that side to offer that. Perhaps a club like Chelsea or Arsenal, who aren’t so blessed with striking options.
He’s a talented forward, but there just isn’t room for him at United.
Muller scored 13 league goals in the season just gone.
