Liverpool were so close to winning their first Premier League trophy last season but their leaky defence ultimately let them down. Despite scoring an incredible amount of goals, their defence was continually opened up and it led to them falling short in the late stages. This man could help plug the gaps, though, should Brendan Rodgers look to sign him.
It will probably be a controversial choice but I think Rio Ferdinand would be a superb addition.
He may have lost some pace, but the way he reads the game is impressive and he would also help the younger players in the side.
He is also a free transfer.
He is a Brendan Rodgers player, too. He has a steady head, he is English and is composed with the ball at his feet – three attributes that Martin Skrtel struggles with.
He is 35, but a two year deal on a pay-as-you-play basis could be a smart deal. Last season he made 90 clearances in his 14 league appearances, 19 interceptions and 10 tackles.
Liverpool fans, would you be able to look past the rivalry?
