With Liverpool pushing for a deal to secure Adam Lallana, the Southampton midfielder has apparently told the Hampshire club that he wants to leave after the World Cup. However, if I was amongst the Reds’ hierarchy I would be doing everything in my power to move for him before the tournament. Here’s why.
The World Cup famously inflates players’ price tags, even if they put in a single good performance during the competition.
Liverpool should be moving for him before it kicks off, working with his representatives to get a transfer secured, so they can sit back and watch their new start flourish on the big stage and know that he will be wearing their shirt next season.
Lallana had an exceptional season last time out and was the catalyst to the club’s fine season, and I think he ticks every box that Liverpool should be looking for.
Deployed amongst Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez and of course Rickie Lambert, I genuinely think he would transpire into one of the best in the league.
