A lot was said about the lack of options that Arsenal had up front last season and some point to that exclusively to the reason they eventually fell short of the Premier League title. As a result, the papers crammed names into a metaphorical hat, linking them to a move to the Emirates. One name kept appearing though, and that was Karim Benzema. Here is why the north London side should ignore the Frenchman and move for someone else.
One player that I would put forward is Edin Dzeko, who continues to impress me at Manchester City.
He was a big part of City’s title winning season last year, as well as their first one a few seasons back, but a pocket of City fans still have not taken to him and he has a lot of competition at the Etihad.
Last season he flourished in Aguero’s absence, scoring 16 league goals in 31 appearances. He has the presence in the air, the ball control of someone half his size and a powerful strike from outside of the area.
With Aguero, Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo to contend with, perhaps he could be tempted by a more responsible role.
Arsenal fans, would you rather have Dzeko or Benzema leading your attack?
