After a fine World Cup from Chile and Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez there have been many teams looking into signing him. One of those teams is Arsenal, who are competing for his signature against a host of other clubs including Liverpool and Serie A champions Juventus.
According to goal.com, Arsenal are lining up a £32 million move for Sanchez and the Metro suggest that they are the team in the driving seat to sign the player. Chile have just been knocked out of the World Cup and so Sanchez will now have the time to weigh up the options with his agent and decide which move is best for him. That is if Barcelona do not decide to keep hold of him after what has been a very productive World Cup for the player.
As mentioned, Sanchez personally had a great World Cup, scoring two goals against Australia and Brazil respectively in a Chile side that was a breath of fresh air and who took Brazil all the way to penalties in the round of 16. The 25-year-old also had a good club season with Barcelona scoring, 21 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions. He is a reasonably versatile player and can play on either wing, as a striker or even as an attacking midfield player. This would prove beneficial to Arsenal, as they only have one established striker in Olivier Giroud and, with the possibility of Lukas Podolski leaving the Emirates, Sanchez could be used as a winger alongside Giroud instead of replacing him in the side.
It looks like Arsenal will sign the Chilean forward, although they have been linked with other players such as Mario Balotelli, Lorenzo Insigne and Karim Benzema. All of these are decent players but it looks as though the Gunners will set their sights on Alexis Sanchez.
