Reportedly turning down the offer of a new deal at Real Madrid, Sami Khedira is rumoured to be interesting a couple of Premier League clubs. According to the Mirror, Chelsea are preparing to overtake Arsenal in the race to sign the midfielder.
The Germany international only has a year left on his contract at the Bernabeu and it is believed that Los Blancos would rather sell now than lose him for nothing in 12 months. It is rumoured that Khedira is after £150,000 a week, with such wages likely to prove more of a stumbling block for Arsenal than Chelsea.
At 27 years of age Khedira has plenty left to offer, and recently proved he is capable of playing at the top level by helping Germany dominate the competition at this summer’s World Cup. Fans of Brazil are likely to have nightmares that involve the midfielder for quite some time.
Whilst Arsenal’s midfield is currently set to be very similar to last season, Chelsea’s has taken a new shape already with the acquisition of Cesc Fabregas. Adding Khedira would continue to give the Blues a fresh look that could well help them push on, both in the Premier League and in Europe.
