There is global misery now that the World Cup has ended. A constant flow of football was great, but we now have to wait over a month for the Premier League to return. However, clubs know that the transfer market will go into overdrive and they will now have to move very fast in order to land the players that they want.
The World Cup has given teams all over the world a chance to see to some of the talent on offer and I am sure a majority of them will be linked with teams throughout the transfer period. Arsenal have been linked with their fair share and they have already signed Chile star Alexis Sanchez. Mathieu Debuchy, Sami Khedira and Loic Remy are just a few of the other names to be linked with a move to North London.
There is a fresh rumour doing the rounds right now and it regards a key position. Victor Ospina was very good in between the sticks for Colombia and has attracted a few teams. According to the Mirror, the Gunners could wrap up a deal for the Colombian by the end of the week. Arsenal could get the 25-year-old for as little as £3 million which could be a bargain for someone of his talent.
He was one of the best goalkeepers at the World Cup and helped Colombia all the way to the quarter-finals. He was up there with James Rodriguez and Juan Cuadrado in terms of performance. His reactions were a key feature of his game as he made many saves from close range.
Wojciech Szczesny is the one for Arsenal’s future and Arsene Wenger doesn’t want to sign a goalkeeper that will hinder his development. However, he does need a good back-up and someone to provide competition for the Polish international. Ospina would be perfect as he doesn’t quite have the reputation to warrant a start ahead of Szczesny, but has proved that he is a very good goalkeeper and would also be quite cheap.
