According to reports in the Independent, there are major doubts growing that the Arturo Vidal deal for Manchester United might no longer be feasible. The Red Devils thus don’t want to take any risk and with the tabloid reporting that Louis Van Gaal is now turning to Arsenal target William Carvalho, a major question arises on two fronts.
Arsenal are long interested in the player and Wenger is desperate to sign the player but the French manager knows that he might be overpowered by United’s sizeable transfer kitty.
United though in all certainties will try desperately to sign Vidal no matter what but know they might hit a road block. Thus they are taking no chances and are looking for a plan B. But Vidal’s knee injuries has made Van Gaal a bit relucatant as he demands the best out of his players in his formations. The Dutch legend is thus concerned that Vidal might not be able to cope with his demanding game play.
The way Independent reports the story makes anyone believe that the Old Trafford outfit were interested in the 22 year long before Van Gaal’s arrival and now that Sporting have reduced their asking price, but rejected two serious bids from Arsenal, United could be thought as the potential front runners to sign the Portuguese sensation.
The reason for saying this is simple in hindsight. Jorge Mendes, the super agent of Angel Di Maria, the Argentine who signed for United this week, is also the representative for Carvalho and have linked United’s keen interest in the player by saying they can use their knowledge and goodwill with Mendes to sign the Arsenal target.
United’s first two games of the new Premier League season have showed the importance of a central midfielder who can take charge in the middle of the park to direct the troops. Is Carvalho the one? Arsenal fans won’t be too happy if the player lands at the Carrington training complex for a medical.
