While the Brendan Rodgers invested heavily in increasing the squad depth during the summer, his Liverpool side have been rather unfortunate with injuries this season. Injuries to Glen Johnson and Martin Skrtel in only the second game of the season were followed by injuries to midfielders Joe Allen and Emre Can. However, the injury that hit Rodgers’ Reds the most is the injury to Daniel Sturridge while away on international duty. The Liverpool number 15 is key to the way Liverpool play and despite signing Mario Balotelli from AC Milan its pretty clear that Liverpool miss the pace and directness of Daniel Sturridge.
