Record Manchester United signing Angel Di Maria has given a major update on the future plans of his professional career. The former Real Madrid star intends to end his playing career at his first club Rosario Central in his native Argentina.
The United number 7 signed for the Red Devils for £59.7 m from the La Liga giants and has instantly hit the ground running in the English Premier League. Di Maria has already created 11 chances in a United jersey and will be a key component of Louis Van Gaal’s side if they are to finish in the top four this season.
Many South American players return home in the twilight of their playing careers and Di Maria has also said he wants to convince national team mates Javier Mascherano and Ezequiel Lavezzi to join the idea of returning to their native regions. Di Maria claimed, “”Central will always be first in my head. Talked with Pocho and Masche to return to Central together.”
“When you tell me how I will return to Argentine football, I tell you how I will not go back and show them a video of Central. I always remember Central, will always be present, is the first and then all the clubs are.”
The Red Devils currently stand 7th in the Premier League after having picked up 8 points from six games so far. United overcame the disappointment of losing to newly promoted Leicester City by winning 2-1 against West ham on Saturday after being reduced to ten men. Captain Wayne Rooney was sent off for a cynical challenge on Stewart Downing for a moment of madness. United next play Everton, who drew 1-1 with Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, this weekend at Old Trafford.
