Manchester United were heavily linked with Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado over the summer transfer window. However, the Colombian star finally stayed in Italy despite the interest from Barcelona as well. Now fresh reports from English Media Outlet Daily Star claim that the Red Devils are keen to sign the pacy winger in the coming winter transfer window. Cuadrado had joined Fiorentina in 2012 and after having a sensational World Cup campaign in Brazil had stated that he wanted to pursue his career in top clubs. The Red Devils are now reportedly preparing a £40m bid for the 26-year-old according to the story.
Cuadrado would easily fit in Louis Van Gaal’s side, being very versatile, capable of playing as a right winger or a right back back when needed. Thus he would be a great fit in either Van Gaal’s 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 setup. Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade however beleives that the player who has 3 years in his contract will reject tempting offers from elsewhere to stay in Florence.
Prade is clearly optimistic in his thinking saying, “We’re negotiating. Both parties are discussing the situation and we want to do everything with the greatest serenity for everyone involved. We are hope to soon find a point of agreement.”
Cuadrado already has had a terrific start to the 2014-15 Serie A season, the winger scoring in Fiorentina’s 3-0 win at home against Inter Milan on Sunday in Serie A. With Cuadrado’s stock increasing further, it would be interesting if United aim to land the player in January.
