Finally, Arsenal wonderkid Wellington Silva is set to play for the Gunners next season after securing a work permit. Arsenal signed Wellington on 2009 from Brazilian side Figueirense for a transfer fee of about £3.5million but it almost took 5 years for the player to secure a work permit to play in England.
He had spent his last few seasons on loan with clubs like Alcoyano, Ponferradina, Real Murcia and now Almeria in Spain. Now the player, who is dubbed as new Neymar, revealed that he has been granted Spanish citizenship, which means he is now eligible to play in England too.
In a recent interview, he said,
‘It’s true,’
‘I can now go back to Arsenal from next season. I would be very happy if I could become an idol at a club like Arsenal.
‘I will give my best to become a great player’.
Wellington Silva is known for his Brazilian samba tricks and skills. Wenger do love grooming such talented players but with wingers like Theo Walcott, Joel Campbell, and Oxalade Chamberlian, already fighting for starting spots, it’s very unlikely for the young Brazilian to instantly start playing for the first team. One for the future definitely.
