Arsenal receive massive boost to sign Chelsea target

Sami Khedira’s career might be finally over at Real Madrid. The German World Cup winner has played on just a handful number of times for the Spanish giants since the summer when he was linked with Arsenal and Chelsea. Khedira had asked Madrid for an improved wage packet citing his performances in Brazil but club President Florentine Perez immediately squashed such claims. It is now believed that Real are closing in to sign Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva. The 21-year-old midfielder, who has been one of the stars of Brazilian football over the last 12 months has been recommended by Carlo Ancelotti’s scout and former AC Milan star Serginho. The Cruzeiro star is growing in reputation at his homeland and might soon switch loyalties to move to the Spanish capital.

This certainly means Khedira is leave Real in January. The German’s contract expires next summer and the reigning Champiosn league winners wouldn’t be willing to lose of their good player on a free. Thus they would be inclined to sell at a much lower price in the upcoming winter transfer window. The reports from English Media Outlet DAILY EXPRESS claims that Arsenal will now go for the jugular to sign the World Cup winner.

Chelsea too are interested in Khedira thanks to Mourinho’s reign at Real. The current Chelsea manager had reportedly phone called teh player to stay put at Madrid for this season and join the Stamford Bridge outfit for a free next summer. However Arsenal, who are in dire need of a central defensive midfielder in their squad are sure to move in the transfer window.

Khedira would be an excellent addition for the Gunners who have only Mathieu Falmini and the error prone Mikel Arteta as the two specialized players in the position. the German would easily fit into the North London side and given they are in a strong position over the deal, a potential bargain is on the cards. However, this only hold true if Manchester United don’t move late to acquire the services of the 27 year old.
