Arsenal have been handed a major transfer boost as their transfer target Fabian Schar revealed that he wants to move abroad. The Swiss international said, “Basel are open to negotiations, but at this moment I have decided that I want to concentrate on my performances.
“I went through a difficult period and it wasn’t the right time to discuss my renewal. I don’t want to be worrying about that now.
“My dream remains to have an experience abroad. I’ve always said that if the opportunity presented itself, I would take it, obviously in agreement with Basel.”
The 22-year old center back also revealed that he is open to join the Bundesliga Premier League and Serie A, “I need a team with important prospects. I’d like the Bundesliga, Premier League or top Italian clubs like Inter, Milan and Juventus. I couldn’t say no.
“I want to hear all my options and consider them carefully. There was some contact in the summer, but nothing serious,” he added.
His comments will definitely get a few more clubs interested in him and Arsenal will now have to act quickly else they run the risk of losing him to other clubs. Schar’s current contract expires next summer which means thats it’s very likely he’ll move in January.Talks of a contract renewal haven’t started which is an indication that Basel are prepared to sell him in January and have set a reported price tag of £10m.
The young defender is an ideal signing for Arsenal as he boasts Champions League experience despite his young age and is a regular choice in both club and country setup. His pace will suit Arsene Wenger’s tactics who likes to play a high defensive line at times. Since joining from FC Wil in 2012, he has gone on to make a total of 90 appearances for the club.
Arsenal have been plagued by injuries so far this season which might force Arsene Wenger’s hand come January. His side tend to falter in the second half of the season which is another reason as to why they need to strengthen in the next window.
