Manchester United received a transfer boost as their transfer target Enzo Perez wants to move to the Premier League. According to Spanish website Superdeporte, the Benfica man prefers a move to the Premier League despite strong interest from la Liga outfit Valencia.
Perez signed a contract extension with Benfica earlier this year that will keep him there until June 2018 which means that United and Valencia will have to fork out a high fee to make Benfica part ways with him. The fee being touted at the moment is close to £20m. You would think that such an amount is pretty high for Valencia who will be gambling on a player in his late 20’s, but the interest for Valencia Sporting Director Francisco Rufete is solid as he wants to sign the midfielder.
The Argentina international was linked with a move to Valencia before the World Cup this year but revealed that he was completely focused on the big tournament, “I know about their interest, I have heard about these possibilities and my agent told me about them too. There is the possibility of playing for Valencia, who are a great club, but right now I want to be fully focused on the Argentina national team and on the World Cup.”
The 28-year old is a central midfielder but can be deployed as an attacking midfielder as well as a wide player. His versatility has caught the eye of Manchester United and Louis Van Gaal who dispatched scouts to watch Perez in Benfica’s game against Monaco this past Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League.
The former Estudiantes man has had an impressive few years which has caught the eye of other clubs. His consistent performances won him a place in the the World Cup that took place in June. Since then, he has grown even better and a move abroad is only a matter of time.
