£25m Chelsea Target Confirms Interest From Several EPL CLubs

Seydou Doumbi

CSKA Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia has revealed that he has a lot of options to chose from on where he wants to move in January if at all his club decide to sell him as there are offers for him from EPL clubs. The Cote d’Ivoire player’s stock has risen in the last few years and its only a matter of time before he moves to a bigger club. According to reports, he almost joined Chelsea in the summer as manager Jose Mourinho was busy signing strikers.

Doumbia revealed that he has had offers from almost all the top leagues amidst talks of a contract extension at CSKA, “I am talking with CSKA about renewing my contract, but there is interest in me.

“There’s a lot from England, Spain, Germany and Italy. However I am under contract at CSKA so I have to talk with them too.”

The 26-year old is contracted with the club until 2016 so the interested clubs will have to pay a minimum fee of £25m, his release clause, if he stalls over a new contract. Chelsea were interested in signing him in the last summer but with Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba at the club, they could stop pursuing him in the future. That could open the door for Liverpool and Arsenal who were being linked with the talented Ivorian.

Doumbia’s agent revealed that he has started contract talks with the club but is yet to sign a deal. The same could happen until January as his client could wait and see any firm offers in view of a potential move, “We are currently in negotiations over a new contract. There is plenty of interest in Seydou from England plus clubs in Spain, Germany and Italy.

“He is a goalscorer and there aren’t many of them around. However, he is contracted to CSKA and clubs will have to pay their fee,” he added.

Doumbia has been in good form this season and has scored nine times in 15 appearances for his club with three of those having come in the UEFA Champions League against tough opponents.
