A Proven Goal-scorer :
Its no surprise that the clinical Schurrle is preferred over Podolski in the German national team. The young German managed 30 appearances in Chelsea colors last season however most of them was from the bench. In 16 of those 30 matches, Schurrle came on from the bench to help his team. And the fact that he managed 8 goals in those appearances, thus becoming the 3rd top goal-scorer for the blues last season epitomizes the fact that the German has an eye for goals even when he is given little time. A true one chance – one goal kind of attacker.
Out of Favour :
Brendan Rodgers has showed a peculiar penchant for players who are often out-of-favour at their clubs before – Daniel Sturridge, Phillipe Coutinho etc. The 24-year-old German has made just 4 Premier League starts this season and has registered a meagre 9 shots at goal of which only 3 hit the target, according to Squawka. The presence of strikers such as Samuel Eto’o, last season and Diego Costa, this season meant that there would be no space for Schurrle to play upfront either thus rendering his understated offensive skill undervalued and unnoticed. Although he hasn’t been permitted to show his predatory traits, Schurrle could be priceless asset for Liverpool, an outlet capable from the wing, in behind the main striker or as the front-man himself.
