Manchester United suffer a transfer blow as their target is happy in Turkey

Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder has quashed rumours of linking him with a potential move to Old Trafford as he revealed that he is happy and focussed in Turkey with his current side Galatasaray. There were reports that he had grown frustrated after there was a delay in paying his wages in the last few months.

Sneijder said, “There is always transfer news about me. The transfer season is approaching so this type of news is normal, they always seem to escalate at this time of the year and I don’t think you really need to guess why.

“I don’t take any notice of these rumours. As I keep saying over and over again, I am very happy at Galatasaray, I feel at home here at the club among my friends.

“I have never considered leaving but the rumours continues. All I am focused on is the team.”

The 30-year old was linked with a move to United before joining Galatasaray, but it failed to materialise. Sneijder hasn’t let his performance levels drop after the move which has started rumours that he could move to spend the remaining good years left in him in a better league like the Premier league. United have lacked a creative threat in their team as Angel Di Maria is the only one who seems to make things happen when he gets the ball. With Juan Mata disappointing after his move, United desperately need a player in the final third to play those final passes.

Since joining the Turkish giants for a fee of €7.5m in 2013, he has made 72 appearances for the club and scored 24 goals. He was a central figure in he Louis Van Gaal led Dutch squad at the World Cup. AC Milan were another side who being linked with the Dutchman recently. Sneijder has appeared in almost all the top league except the Premier League, which could tempt him in the near future if an offer comes in.
