Arsenal in advanced talks to sign next Sergio Aguero?

Premier League side Arsenal are being linked with upcoming striker Paulo Dybala according to talksport, and they could sign him as soon as January. Arsene Wenger’s side are 6th in the league, just two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, but have failed to play the free-flowing football that one would generally associate with them. Pat of the reason why is because of the form of their strikers. According to IBTimes, negotiations are currently in advanced stage.

Bulk of the scoring has been done by winger Alexis Sanchez as he leads the goal scoring charts for Arsenal with eight goals this season. Danny Welbeck has had a decent start at the club and is behind Sanchez with three goals. Welbeck and Giroud have scored a combined five goals this season which isn’t the best of tallies although the latter was injured for a long time and recently made his return. With that in mind, the gunners could sign a striker come January as their form tends to dip at the end of the season.

Dybala is predominantly a center forward but can be deployed as a winger as well. He is contracted with Palermo until 2016 which could open the window for Arsenal in the summer if not in January. His style has been likened to that of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero as he isn’t the biggest but makes it up with his pace and finishing abilities.

The 21-year old’s stock has risen after a brilliant season so far in which he has scored five goals in 13 appearances; the same number of goals that he had managed in last season’s campaign in the Serie B. Dybala joined Palermo in 2012 for a hefty fee of €11.9m and could cost almost three times that amount come January. It is being reported that Arsenal will have to fork out £31m to sign the Argentinian from Palermo.
