Manchester United target set to complete transfer move?

Manchester United are set to be dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva, the player who is set to snub the Red Devils to join reigning European Champions Real Madrid. The 21 year old had also been linked with Arsenal after his impressive outings with Cruzerio but it now appears (according to reports from English Media Outlet Daily Star) that he is set for a move away to the Spanish capital from his home club.

Silva had been tracked by Real over the past few months as manager Carlo Ancelotti had used his good friend and former AC Milan player Serginho to keep a close eye on him. Silva plays in a central defensive midfielder role who is adept to break down the opposition attacks. Arsenal and United would have done well to get the player on the cheap as they are in dire need of a player who can screen the back four and build momentum in attacks.

Silva who fits the bill perfectly said in an interview with SporTV, “I don’t know what they are going to propose, whether they want me in the middle of the season or at the end and I stay for the Copa Libertadores. I still don’t know what will happen, but it would be interesting to stay for the Libertadores and then join up with the rest of the players for pre-season. Negotiations are still open but if they do take shape it will be dream to play for Madrid.”

Silva’s arrival at Bernabeu however could spell the end of German World Cup winner Sami Khedira who has also been linked with Arsenal and United. There was a lot of speculations over Khedira’s move to the Premier League in the summer but despite a refusal of higher wages, the midfielder stayed put at Madrid.
