There is no doubt that apart from Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas was Chelsea’s finest signing in the summer. The Spaniard cost the Blues £27m from Barcelona but the former Arsenal star is already living up to his billing. The midfielder who has already been involved in a majority of Chelsea’s goals this season has now revealed why he joined the Stamford Bridge outfit. English Media Outlet Daily Star has cited the player saying living in London played a huge part behind his move to the Blues.
Fabregas said, “It’s the best city in the world, for me. Obviously, Barcelona is my home, I have my family and all my friends there, the weather is great and we have a beautiful house there, but there is something about London that me and my wife love.”
“The moment I decided to go from Barcelona, it was going to be England – I was going back to the Premier League. I wanted to go to a competitive league where you can win, where you can lose, but where you always have to give your best and be on top of your game. “Of course, when Jose Mourinho came in, it was a big chance for me.”
Chelsea’s early form has shown that they are worthy of being called the favourites for winning the title and Fabregas has been a key figure behind Jose Mourinho’s side. Together with Nemanja Matic, Fabregas dictates the play for the Stamford Bridge side. While Matic is given the duty of protecting the back four, Fabregas joins in attacks with the attacking triumvirate in front of him. Arsenal fans would be still wondering what would have been had, if Fabregas returned to the Emirates rather than deciding to move to their fierce cross city rivals.
