Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao has revealed that he hopes to feature more prominently in the future for his side. Falcao has had an injury stricken spell at Manchester United so far after having made just eight appearances in the League.
United manager Louis van Gaal had revealed a week ago that Falcao was fit for only 20 minutes and ‘was not interested’ on whether he was happy with his new role or not. When the Colombian was asked about his lack of minutes on the pitch, he replied, “We [himself and Van Gaal] talk a lot.
“He has a philosophy that I respect. I have had an injury, and I have had to wait for the opportunity to play.
“I am not playing many minutes at the moment but I am sure that there will more opportunities to play.”
The on-loan Monaco man also said that despite the lack of game time, he is happy at United and wants to stay at the club, “I am very happy in this city, in this club. I really want to stay.”
United have the option of signing Falcao, who is currently earning £265,000-a-week on a permanent deal for a fee of £43.5m, but if he keeps playing a bit part role like he currently along with the frequent injury niggles, then it’s highly unlikely that Van Gaal will dish out such money for him.
Falcao is finally fit after a calf injury last month that ruled him out until early December. His last goal came against Everton in early October, so he’ll be itching to get on the scoresheet once again. The former Porto man has looked woefully short of the force he once was in European football when the opposing defenders used to fear his strong figure in their own box. United’s next game is against Aston Villa, and Falcao could get a chance to impress as Van Gaal will have to shuffle his squad in order for them to stay fresh in what is a busy December schedule.
