There is no doubt that Manchester United have to thank David De Gea for their current third place in the Premier League standings. The Spanish goalkeeper has been in sensational form this season and has arguably saved many potential dropped points for the Red Devils this season. His contract however, is set to expire in 2016 and he hasn’t signed a contract extension yet with the Old Trafford outfit.
Reports English Tabloid DAILY EXPRESS have again stuck out their neck claiming that De Gea is subject to a huge bid from Real Madrid. The Reigning European Champions are in fact likely to eclipse the whopping £33m goalkeeping transfer record paid for Gianluigi Buffon by Juventus in 2001. It is believed that manager Carlo Ancelotti is not happy with his limited goalkeeping options, and the Itlaian manager is already looking to replace the departing Iker Casillas.
United though are relaxed and there is no chance that they will let De Gea to leave for any price even though Victor Valdes is currently training with the club and could be set to sign for United once he recuperates from his injury fully in January. De Gea’s growing importance to United was highlighted by club captain by Wayne Rooney when he said: “In my eyes he’s the best keeper in the world. The performances he’s shown for us have been fantastic.”
