According to reports from English media outlet DAILY EXPRESS Arsenal have been boosted in their pursuit of PSG striker Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan has not been included in PSG’s winter training camp in Marrakech, which could boost the Gunners’ hope of completing a shock January deal for the striker.
However the question for Arsene Wenger would be whether he would splash the cash for a striker in January. Arsenal signed Danny Welbeck in the summer from Manchester United, Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona and have Olivier Giroud fully fit. No doubt Cavani would strengthen the London side massively but the figure for the player looks well out of reach for the Emirates side.
Lavezzi along with Argentine winger Ezequiel Lavezzi has not traveled with the rest of the PSG for the warm weather training and there are suggestions that a transfer move away from the Paris side is imminent. The striker however will join the side when they return to for their away clash in the Ligue 1 against Bastia.
The club’s official website read: “Javier Pastore rejoins his teammates this afternoon, while Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi resume training back in Paris.”
It is believed that manager Laurent Blanc is more or less resigned to the fact of Cavani losing the club. Moreover should teh striker leave, PSG would be free from the constraints of Financial Fair Play. Chelsea were also linked with the player in the summer but they chose to sign Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid instead. It remains to be seen whether Wenger will splash the cash in the transfer market.
