Arsenal have been linked to quite a few players this season as manager Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his squad to retain the FA Cup title and book a spot in the Champions League for next season. The Gunners have also faced a lot of injury problems right through the season and wish to add to their squad, more quality players if they wish to compete for silverware. One of their intended targets has been French midfielder Moussa Sissoko who is currently with Premier League rivals Newcastle United. The 25 year old midfielder is a prime target on Wenger’s list as he is a powerful asset in the midfield and would be a quality purchase for the Gunners.
Now, the French international has gone ahead and reportedly said that he wishes to make a move to the Arsenal, a bigger club than Newcastle. Apart from the Gunners, French champions Paris Saint-Germain have also been keen on signing the midfield powerhouse, yet, a deal has not been finalized for him. His recent statement would have come as a shock to the intentions of the Ligue 1 outfit who had plans of making a swoop for the Frenchman. Newcastle will only sell if their valuation of the French star is met but after what happened with Cabaye last season, such a statement by Sissoko might leave the club authorities quite worried.
In an interview to the Telefoot, he said If anything should happen, it will.
“If Wenger calls me, I’ll have a man-to-man talk with him and we’ll see what happens. Arsenal have always been the club of my heart.
“The transfer window is open, so things can happen. It’s not doing my head in too much. I’m still focused on Newcastle. If something happens or something doesn’t happen, so be it. I hope to sign for a big club one day but I don’t know when. Staying in England is my priority.”
Sissoko has been by far Newcastle’s best player this season and if he decides to leave the Magpies, it would be a big worry for them, filling the void.
